I work for a compnay in Doha, Qatar. I come from a place where the work culture
was completely different from where i work today. Like any organisation mine
is not a 100% corporate paradise. However, what makes it unique is the diverse
culture of population you come across. There's the Adult culture, There's Urban
culture, and the more rural culture. What makes it so rewarding is, We live,
communicate, and share knowledge in these non exclusive cultures.
Multiple cultures exist within any of the present sucessfull enterprises in the world.
The boundaries may be geographic—like Qatar/Dubai North/South Korea.
Or they may be around language—where a concept or word, when translated,
can have a very different meaning. Or they may be cross-discipline, like
Customer service/Marketing, or even support staff.
What intrests me are the challenges and opportunities in cross-cultural teams.
How we recognize them and deal with them successfully to maximize team
potential? Thus success in any multi national come lies in the fact that,
How do organizations build teams across ,linguistic cultures, and across
geographies?
Our current workforce is an increasingly multicultural and culturally diverse
environment in which people from often significantly different social, racial/ethnic,
sociocultural, national, and even linguistic background meet, interact, and work
together to achieve personal and organizational goals and objectives.
Looking at this it is very important to examine how cultural diversity impacts
upon the workplace and to develop strategic practices that will minimize any
possible tensions emerging from cross-cultural interaction.
The respect and tolerance shown to each other within the company reflects
upon the company's Image in this cross cultural life.
